FAQ

Does Plum Crazy Restorations offer estimates for their restoration and custom repair services?

Yes… absolutely! Whether it is a custom repair or a full vehicle restoration, Plum Crazy Restorations takes great pride with both attention to the details and quality of the estimates that
we provide our customers. We have developed a detailed Vehicle Hoist Inspection (VHI) process that is extremely beneficial to our customers which provides not only restoration costs but also the peace of mind knowing that the right team is involved with planning your vehicles restoration.

What is the investment potential of restoring a car or having a custom car built?

The value of any vehicle depends on a few key factors. Such as, how collectible and/or desirable the vehicle is!

For example, Jane Smith brings in her ’68 Chevrolet Corvette in with $20,000 worth of restoration work and John Stewart brings in his ’68 Plymouth Road Runner with $20,000 worth of work as well. Do you think at the end of the day both these vehicles are going to be worth the same? When you think about it, no two peas in a pod are the same and the same goes for vehicles, but we will still use this to compare value. So, let us just say that these two cars have the same rust, the same dents, the same price for each part, the same availability and time to find each part. In addition, they take the same amount of time to fully restore all aspects of the vehicle, down to the last minute! The value of the ’68 Road Runner is going to be approximately $150,000 and the ’68 Corvette may be worth $40,000.

Regardless of the restoration taking the same investment to restore them, we would still have a value difference. Supply and demand will always set values and unfortunately, that is something that we cannot change. The customer dictates the investment value/return by what they love and decides to restore.

Please Note: Here at Plum Crazy Restorations, we are not in the business of building custom cars or restoring classic muscle cars based on investment potential alone. If you are looking to have a vehicle restored based simply on the possibility of financial profit or investment potential, in most cases you will be disappointed. We are in the business of making the car of your dreams, whether it is because it was your grandma’s ’67 Camaro or the ‘68 Plymouth Road Runner that you have always been dreaming of cruising in, were here to make that happen!

Is there a difference between a collision/body shop and a restoration shop?

Most definitely yes! Collision centres make their money by repairing minor damages such as fender benders and quickly getting them back onto the road in a timely fashion. They quite often work on newer models that have OEM parts readily available. Not all, but some may even take shortcuts to get the vehicle done even faster. When dealing with a Plum Crazy Restorations, we take our time to make sure everything is cleaned, repaired, and restored with precision. It is about quality not quantity with our professional restoration technicians. We highly suggest you do not choose a collision centre when you decide it is time to work on your prized possession.
